  1. Prior to upgrading, it is essential to verify that the new version is compatible with your environment and will not cause any issues. Please consult the VMware documentation for guidance.
  2. When upgrading to NSX 4.2, licenses from any currently operational version of NSX 4 that has a perpetual license will be smoothly transferred to the new version.
  3. If you are undertaking the installation of NSX version 4.2 for the initial time, users are granted an evaluation mode that lasts for 60 days. If an attempt is made to assign a legacy license (Perpetual) during this evaluation period, the following banner will be displayed: "Features activated in Evaluation Mode remain valid only until the mode expires. Please ensure you apply the appropriate License Key beforehand to maintain access to these features." does mean, During the 60-day evaluation period, you have access to the most networking features, irrespective of the assignment of a Perpetual license. Once this evaluation period concludes, if a perpetual license has been assigned, the notification will no longer appear. Conversely, if no license has been assigned, you will receive a message indicating the necessity to assign a license, as the evaluation period will have expired.
